Vocabulary
Evaporation – When a liquid turns into a gas.
Condensation – When a gas turns into a liquid.
Precipitation – Water that falls to the ground – rain, snow, hail.
Collection – Where water is collected (ocean, streams, lakes, rivers).
Aquifer – A Body of rock and or sediment that holds ground water.
Ground Water – Precipitation that has seeped into the ground.
Surface Water – Water that is found of the earth’s surface.
Freshwater – Water that has a low concentration of minerals, salts and dissolved solids.
Saltwater – Water that has a high level of dissolved salt.
Hydrogen – A chemical element with two atoms that make up water.
Oxygen – A chemical element with one atom.
Runoff – Precipitation that does not seep into the ground.
Reservoir – A place where water is collected and stored for use.
